In this video the team from IES Peñamayor in Nava (Asturias) tell us about the progress of their scientific project. The launch will take place in April.
About the experiment: “Daniell in the stratosphere, what a fabric!”
The project “Daniell in the stratosphere, what a fabric!” by IES Peñamayor in Nava aims to carry out two experiments:
The first is the study of the behaviour of a Daniell cell under the low-pressure, low-temperature conditions of the stratosphere. How this type of cell works under these extreme conditions is perfectly described in theory and has great educational value, as it captures the essence of the electrochemical behaviour underlying any type of galvanic cell based on oxidation-reduction reactions.
The second consists of subjecting a series of textile items made from natural and artificial fibres to those same conditions in order to determine, through different tests, how the different types of fabric block solar radiation and how the properties of textile materials are affected when they are exposed to intense solar radiation combined with low pressures and temperatures.
