In this video the team from Colegio Jesuitas (Burgos) tell us about the progress of their scientific project. The launch will take place in April.
About the experiment: 4KSAT
The 4KSAT satellite will be developed by 4 students of the 1st year of the intermediate vocational course in Electrical and Automatic Installations, at the school La Merced y San Francisco Javier, Jesuitas de Burgos.
The satellite will be designed and assembled during electronics classes, applying the project-based learning (PBL) methodology and collaborative work techniques.
The project aims to analyse different indicators of “life” on exoplanets. To do so, we will design a satellite, controlled by an Arduino board, with sensors for pressure, temperature, humidity, luminosity, amount of CO, position, etc., which will let us obtain a sample of the exoplanet’s composition at different heights and, with it, get an idea of the possibility of life on it.
All the data will be stored on an SD card. In addition, on the ground, a computer will be connected to the 433 MHz receiver, to which an antenna will be attached to improve the reception distance.
