To get their ideas straight and learn, they have put together a document with the key concepts
Some of their progress can already be seen on their Instagram profile
IES Kursaal in Algeciras presents the scientific project “Kursaatélite”, with which they will take part in the #ServetVI launches in spring 2022. Kursaatélite is a project by a group of 4th-year ESO students at IES Kursaal. The project is based on building a scientific station able to take certain measurements of the air during the ascent and/or descent to the stratosphere and to store or transmit that data, for which we will use a sounding balloon.
After a few months of work, we have currently developed the following parts of our project:
- Documentation: It is completely finished; in it we can find the key concepts of our project defined in detail, the device’s functionality, the purpose behind our scientific objective and the bibliography from which we have taken the information needed to make comparisons and support the other sections.
- Arduino programming and development: We have recently largely completed the programming of the sensors used in our satellite; only the GPS and its code remain to be added.
- Mock-up and 3D design: The 3D design is under development; once it is complete, we will start printing the model immediately.
- Science communication: To promote the project we have been managing and uploading content to our Instagram profile
Once we finish the mock-up and start doing more tests we will be able to share more activity. Where we feel we have had the most difficulty is in implementing and formulating a scientific objective adapted to the project’s requirements so that it is something new and applicable to a real situation, which delayed us as it interrupted the continuity of the device’s progress.
