Escuela Virolai, in Barcelona, presents the scientific project “Measuring the water stress of the land with the NDVI technique” with which they will take part in the #ServetVI launches in spring 2022.
We are 4th-year ESO students at Escuela Virolai in Barcelona and our project consists of
measuring the water stress of the land from images of the vegetation.
We all know that Spain has a drought problem that is getting worse and worse, and making a good diagnosis of the health of crops and of the vegetation in general of the territory is a necessity in order to adopt
measures to reverse the situation. To make the diagnosis, we propose launching a balloon probe that takes aerial images in the
infrared and visible range of the light reflected by the
vegetation.
Subsequent processing of the images using the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) technique will give us a map of the health of the vegetation.
