IES Vilafranca in Castellón presents the scientific project with which they will take part in the #ServetVI launches in spring 2022.
Because the condensation of water vapour, and therefore the formation of clouds, depends on many variables (degrees of freedom), this experiment aims to limit their number through the forced ascent of a confined mass of humid air, that is, with no interaction at all with the surrounding air.
The aim is to monitor, as far as possible, the change undergone by the different meteorological variables involved in cloud formation, that is, to record how the temperature and humidity of a confined air mass with a constant water content change as it rises through the troposphere. This humble experiment has a magnificent real-life illustration in the typical summer-evening convection situations on the Iberian Peninsula, when a layer of humid surface air rises as a block by convection until it saturates and forms a cloud.
The project team has a website where they will be posting updates on the progress of their experiment.
