Two days before the Servet-V launches, we presented the project on the Aragón TV programme ‘Esta es mi tierra’. Two members of Servet, Enrique Torres (I3A – University of Zaragoza) and Nacho Ansó, were on the programme’s set to tell the details of the citizen science initiative.
Servet-V puts a whole infrastructure at citizens’ disposal so they can carry out experiments: balloons, helium, launch permits, insurance… Around 15 capsules will be launched, reaching 34,000 metres in altitude.

Interview on the programme ‘Esta es mi tierra’

Kike Torres explaining what the capsules are like
The experiments are varied, but Kike Torres gave two very curious examples, both made by schools. One of them consists of launching test tubes and seeing at what point of the ascent they freeze.
Another experiment would consist of seeing what differences there may be between a potato planted after having risen to the stratosphere and one planted in the usual way. Afterwards, the changes that might occur on germination will be analysed.
