We keep moving forward and researching our “Space Tourist Kit”:
On the technical side, we already have a base mock-up that lets us take some measurements of temperature,
pressure, luminosity, etc. We are working on the wiring of the power system to reduce weight and
be able to include more material.
We are also still working on the design of a mini battery, but we fear it may weigh too much.
Materials and budget:
As for materials, we have ordered sensors to measure ultraviolet radiation as well as bacteria.
These bacteria will let us learn about the different genetic mutations of those sent to space and compare them with the same bacteria in our laboratory.
The initial budget of 100 euros is being respected, since we have all the material used last year thanks to the help of our sponsor for SERVET VI: the company SICE.
This year we are lucky to be able to count on SICE’s help again. They will help us through their chair at the University of Zaragoza on electronics, sensors, etc. They will let us acquire more material, and the possibility of including a photo or video camera opens up for us.
Objectives:
– By the end of January: We hope to have received all the material and to have the sensors wired and working. We also want to have the 3D design of the box ready.
– During February: We will print the box with our 3D printers and start assembling the capsule.
– In March: We will keep assembling, weighing and testing. Everything has to be ready by the end of
March without fail.
– In April: We will be on holiday for the first two weeks, so we will not see each other.
