IES Benjamín Jarnes in Fuentes de Ebro, Zaragoza, presents the scientific project with which they will take part in the #ServetVI launches in spring 2022.
We are a group of 8 1st-year Bachillerato students taking the Industrial Technology subject at IES Benjamín Jarnes in Fuentes de Ebro. As a project for this subject we were proposed to take part in #ServetVI.
While researching the Servet V mission, we found the so-called Chuck Norris Capsule especially interesting, in which you can clearly see rotors gradually stop spinning because of the lack of atmosphere.

Our project aims to try to measure how the atmosphere disappears with altitude. To do so we will set a “mini-fan” that sends a flow of air against a “mini wind generator”. The lower the air density, the less voltage the mini wind generator should produce, and when there is practically a vacuum it will stop. If we are able to record this voltage for each altitude, we will be able to establish how the air density decreases.
The project team has a website where they will be posting updates on the progress of their experiment. You can also follow them on Instagram and TikTok.
