In this video the team of students from CFA Santiago Rusiñol, Barcelona, tell us about the progress of their scientific project, which will be launched to the stratosphere as part of the classroom citizen science project #SERVETVIII
Their experiment on the most widely cultivated plant species
Our challenge is to identify the most widely cultivated plant species in the different regions of the world (rice, maize, wheat, cassava, potato, etc.) and to check their germination capacity before and after the trip to the stratosphere. This study will take a cross-curricular approach, including aspects related to biology, geography and mathematics, among others, which will make it easy for us to link it to the educational curriculum. Finally, we will equip our box with a recording camera that can capture images and, in this way, break preconceived ideas held in some strata of society, such as flat-earthism.
Follow the project on its website:
We will share our experience and the associated findings through the school website.
