The Servet #VIII videos: CFA Santiago Rusiñol

In this video the team of students from Institut Escola Daniel Mangrané, in Tortosa, Tarragona, tell us about the progress of their scientific project, which will be launched to the stratosphere as part of the classroom citizen science project #SERVETVIII

Their experiment: “GloRa”

It consists of analysing solar radiation at different heights using light sensors of different frequencies (visible, ultraviolet and infrared light). We will make the sun’s radiation reaching the sensors pass through different lenses (sunglasses, prescription glasses, ski goggles and welding goggles) to see which frequencies are reflected best by each type of lens and how those frequencies change as altitude increases. During the ascent we will record the data using the modules mentioned above, on an SD card and, if we can, by radio. Afterwards, we will also analyse whether any lens suffers damage from radiation, temperature or pressure.
